Rob Hans was born in New York City in 1967. As one of five children, he grew up in a typical family environment. He enjoyed playing sports, and had an early appreciation for music although he barely played any musical instruments. His musical tastes range from the classics of the '50s to heavy metal, with a little bit of everything else in between. As a young man, he was a volunteer firefighter for over 7 years and then joined the U.S. Navy and was home-ported in Japan and San Diego. Rob has been to 18 countries and more than 40 U.S. States. Rob is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and is a life member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.
Since Rob was never really able to find his true calling as far as a career, he has held several jobs, including working for his father in the family jewelry business, which actually was his favorite. His father was a jeweler for more than 50 years, and his mother, a homemaker. Rob's maternal grandfather, who was from the Bronx, was a successful sign painter by trade and a fine American artist who painted mostly seascapes and portraits. His artistic flair then skipped a generation and was inherent in his grandchildren. Rob's sister is an accomplished artist and graphic designer. She gave Rob his early guidance and much encouragement to pursue his passion.
It is plainly evident in his work that Rob is truly a gifted photographer, artist & renaissance man.
Rob has lived in New York, California, New Mexico, Florida & Japan and currently makes his home once again in New York.
